Presented publicly on January 11, 2005, was the first iPod using flash memory type, unlike earlier models that use the hard disk to store data. It has been designed as a cheap, more handy alternative to other iPod models. First-generation iPod shuffle is very small (dimensions of 8.38 x 2.49 x 0.84 cm) and lightweight, weighing only 22 g. Apple advertised its size as the “smaller than a package of chewing gum, but much more entertaining.” The following is added: “iPod is not used for chewing.”
He was available in two versions:
* 512 MB
* 1 GB
First-generation iPod shuffle connects to a computer by a USB plug, which also loads the internal battery. After joining the computer files can be loaded into memory using iTunes. Since there are no internal moving parts, the player is extremely resistant to shock and damage. It can also be used as part of PenDrive if memory will be reserved for that purpose.
